Smart search uses string distance algorithms to return the best matching words for your query.
Type the word you are looking for.
Type the word followed by an asterisk (*).
Precede the word with an asterisk (*).
Wrap the word between two asterisks (*).
Place an asterisk (*) inside the word to match both a beginning and an ending at once: prefix*suffix. The prefix and suffix are searched independently — the prefix uses fuzzy matching if it is longer than 3 characters, and the suffix uses phonetic exact matching if it is 3 characters or fewer. Match score is a length-weighted average of both parts.
Wrap in quotation marks to require exact matching of both parts:
Exact search uses a strict string comparison algorithm. If no exact match is found, the search falls back to smart fuzzy search automatically.
Wrap the word in quotation marks.
Prefix, suffix, and infix patterns can be combined with quotation marks for exact matching.
Type two or more words separated by spaces to find sentences containing all of them. Each word is searched independently using its own matching rules, so you can freely mix fuzzy words, exact terms, and wildcards.
Separate words by spaces. Results show only sentences where every word appears (in any order).
Each word can use its own search mode: fuzzy, exact, prefix, or suffix.
Wrap all words in a single pair of quotes as a shorthand for making every word exact (order is not required — use :ordered for that):
Add :ordered to your query to search for words that appear in the sentence in the given order. Each word can use its own search mode (fuzzy, exact, prefix). The sequence must be preserved left to right.
Combine freely with exact search and wildcards per word:
Special search options extend both smart search and exact search.
Type your query in upper case to search for logograms.
Determinatives (semantic classifiers written before or after a word) are not part of the transcription and are not matched by ordinary search. Use the caret syntax ^DET^ to find words that carry a specific determinative.
Place the determinative between carets before the word: ^DET^word.
Place the determinative between carets after the word: word^DET^.
Use * inside the carets for prefix, suffix, or infix matching of the determinative text.
Combine determinative filter freely with prefix/suffix search of the word part and with search options.
Type options directly into the search box together with your query. Format: :keyword or :keyword=value. Options are case-insensitive and can be freely combined.

Restrict results to documents within a CTH number range.
Restrict to Old Hittite (:oh), Middle Hittite (:mh), or New Hittite (:nh) compositions. Multiple period options are combined as OR.
Restrict to manuscripts written in Old Script (:os), Middle Script (:ms), or New Script (:ns), based on Hethport palaeographic data. Multiple options are combined as OR. Can be combined with composition period filters.
Restrict to words on lines of a specific language (fallback to document language). Multiple language options are combined as OR.
Skip words that contain reconstruction markers [...] (LaesIn / LaesFin tokens).
Restrict search to determinatives, Sumerograms, or Akkadograms. Multiple scope options are combined as OR.
Options work with all search modes: fuzzy, exact, prefix/suffix, and multi-word.
